Trekking Via Sacra

The 4-day trekking with a total lenght of approx. 130 km starting south of Vienna and ending in Mariazell is one of the oldest pilgrimage routes in Austria. We will encounter the beauty of Austrian Mountains, cross large green woods and valleys as well as cross a few lower alpine passes. Elevation gain/loss during the whole trip will be around 3500 m.

After crossing the Viennese Woods (“Wienerwald”), we can visit on our way one of the most famous monasteries in Austria, Heiligenkreuz. We will cross a few small villages on our way, climb Kieneck, Unterberg and Gscheid, hike along the idyllic Lake “Hubertus” before we eventually reach the most famous Austrian pilgrimage spot “Mariazell”, from where we can take a bus which gets us back to Vienna.
There are a lot of variations of the tour, but we will do a version which runs on smaller and remote trails most of the time; this is definitely one of the best trails in the lower Austrian Alps.

We will sleep in small guesthouses/Hotels as well as mountain huts, where we will enjoy local food and drinks.
You will receive a detailed itinerary as well as a gear list before the trip.
Sleeping in huts and guest houses will enable you to keep your backpack light, only carrying some spare clothing as well as some snacks and drinks.

The tour is also ideal for private Groups (between 2 and 6 People), which allows you spend your time with your closest friends or Family.
